At a homeless shelter in Rome, imagination was used to spark a spontaneous unification and boost the hope of a people. A discussion yielded designs and ideas of what “home” means; how “home” exists not only as a physical thing but as a supportive and secure social environment. From the thoughts and designs a symbol for a common home was built out of rubbish collected from the surrounding streets. “The home exists only when you have unity, peace and diversity”, stated one participant, and in fact a united peaceful process saw a model house come to life. Through ideas, spontaneity, and a group experience positivity was created and manifested as an installation that was maintained by the shelter residents leading up to our partner Shoot 4 Change’s social event.
