Artefacting has opened the “Bloodbank” community space at the Queensboro Plaza clocktower building ahead of No Longer Empty’s opening of the”How Much Do I Owe You” exhibition on Dec 12.

Students, workers, and residents are being engaged in front of the building by questions “What is Your Blood Worth”, “How Do You Give Back To Long Island City” and “What’s Your Blood Made Out Of”. We, the project team and facilitators Annalisa, Iandry and Alex, are bringing people inside the Bloodbank to speak their minds and souls about this red substance and the life it represents. Interviews are conducted by Alex and participants are sharing stories of blood donation while others speak their minds regarding what they think makes blood so special.

A coloring and information exercise designed by Iandry helps them leave their mark in the space and create a unique design that will be given to Blood Donors as well as evolve into an artwork in itself. Some are even signing up already for our blood drive which will happen around Jan 15.

The Bloodbank is open daily between 11 to 5 Monday to Friday in the storefront space of the clocktower, across from the Dutch Kills Green in Queensboro Plaza. Open to all, and stay tuned for more!
